»How do I use someone else's save?
After downloading a save, you'll either get a plain old data.bin or a zipped file.
If you have a data.bin, you have to place it in a folder structure on your SD card like so: \private\wii\title\GAME\data.bin (replacing GAME with it's corresponding game code from the game code list). If you get a zipped file, it most likely has all of it's folder structure in tact, so all you have to do is extract it to your SD card so it shows up like the above folder structure.
This is exactly what happens for me:
http://wiisave.com/?dlid=776
1. I click download, it asks what Firefox should do with this file. I click Open With (E:). (My SD card)
2. I see the 'private' folder, so I click on it. I click on 'wii', then 'title'.
3. Now these are the files I see: FAKE, HADE, NAAE, REXE, RRBE, and RZDE. I see no GAME. I looked in each folder, and they're all empty.
Can someone help me get this to work?
It's a zipped file (.zip), you can't open it with your SD card, you need to open it with an unzipping utility. WinXP has one built in so instead of specifically telling it to open with the SD card, just leave it alone and tell it to open or you could just save it somewhere to your hard drive and double click it..either way should allow you to open the zipped file. It's showing you all those FAKE, HADE, NAAE, REXE, RRBE and RZDE folders because that's what's already on your SD card. Telling it to Open with your SD card will just explore what's on your SD card.
Now, you're not actually looking for "GAME", that was just an example. Read it bit closer: replacing GAME with it's corresponding game code from the game code list)
From the game code list, Mario Strikers Charged = R4QE so it would be structured on your SD card like this: \private\wii\title\R4QE\data.bin
But in the case of this particular save, the author zipped up the folder structure already intact, so all you need to do is extract the private folder to your SD card (just drag and drop the private folder to your SD card). That's it, you're done, your Wii will recognize it now.
Hm, okay thanks I'll try it.
Awesome, it worked, thanks a load.
