I was wondering if anyone knows if the Wii will read more than one SD card at any given time.

To that end, has anyone attempted to have the Wii read from an SD card reader similar to this one (or any other version of a USB reader)?

What I would like to do is have two SD cards, one with 100% saves and one with my own games that aren't completed, both reading at the same time so that I can simply erase games from the Wii memory at will and upload the ones from either card (depending on which I prefer to play at the time).

Obviously, I can do this with two cards and no reader, but I was thinking of the convenience of having them both attached at the same time.

    Has anyone tried this?

i tried my card reader and nothing happened. the wii cant see the sd from the usb port. if you wanted two sd cards at the same time you would have to make a switch to switch between them from the SD port on the wii. that would be pointless to me to have to switch between them manually instead of just put the one in that you want

You may think it would be pointless, but I do not and I believe others would find a benefit in this, as well.

I still want to keep the saves that I have begun so that I can finish them myself, however, I do enjoy playing 100% games with all the features unlocked, every now and then.

In order to keep the saves I have and still play the 100% saves, I have to go through a number of steps:

    • Copy my save to the SD card
    • Erase my save from Wii memory
    • Put my save onto my computer
    • Erase my save from the SD card
    • Put 100% save onto SD card
    • Copy 100% save onto Wii Memory

Then, when I want to play my save, again

    • Erase 100% save from Wii memory
    • Erase 100% save from SD card
    • Put my save onto SD card
    • Copy my save onto Wii Memory

It would be quite a bit easier for me to be able to have both cards (one with all my saves and one with all the 100% saves I want) inserted into the Wii at the same time, so that all I have to do is erase from Wii memory the save I don't want to play and copy over the file I do want to play, without having to constantly get up, switch them around, pop them into the computer, etc.

I do think it would be nice to be abel to do that and be able to switch between them right from the wii. But right now its not possible. You can only use one SD card at a time and you still have to erase the save from the wii. Why not have two SD cards one withe your save and another withe 100% save. whitch you still would have to have two if you wanted to use it that way. To switch between the two you would still have to get up to switch them.
•get up switch the cards around
•go to the save menu erase your save
    •put the other one on
If Nintendo goes withe the usb flash stick you can have your SD card and usb stick at the same time but that's just a rumor and way off if they ever do that. Ill try to think of something or find something for you to put 2 in at the same time. You will still have to erase the save you don't want and put the one you do want in.I didn't mean to be rude or any thing. just my 2 1/2 cents

Thanks, I do appreciate you trying it out for me. =0) At least now we know that option is out.

I do plan on picking another card up so that I don't have to go through all the steps, like I am, now.

My hope was just that I could have two separate SD cards (one with 100% saves and one with mine) that I could have hooked up simultaneously, all the time.

Then it would just be a matter of going to the Data Management screen when you want to switch the saves out (as opposed to having to get up and switch out the cards manually).

Someone needs to invent an SD card hub or splitter so that you can plug it in and have more than one card read at a time!
