I seem to be getting an error when copying the save from my SD card to the Wii, it tells me that "You must first play the game on the Wii console to copy save file." Alternatively, I even tried the one from gamefaqs (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/wii/save/932846.html) which also gave me the same error, is it the save file or my actual Wii that's preventing it and is there a way around it? I actually had a save file about 50% of the way but deleted it prior to attempting to copy this one. After that, I tried playing the game a bit and then copying the save again but still no hope.
Can anyone help me?
Does your Wii's region match the save's region?
Yes, mine is Australian PAL which should work with any other PAL as I've used saves which are in german/french and they've all worked.
Find your DBZ game case and look on the back of it for 'RVL R??? ???' and let me know what's in place of the question marks.
Nevermind, it seems to work with the NTSC version of the save for some reason.
Appreciated your help, thanks.
I'm still curious what that code is on the back of your DBZ case though. This is interesting...
Well, that's kind of the problem considering I don't exactly own a case. Not to sound discrete or anything..
I'll let you fill the blanks.
Oh, I'm assuming you have a modded Wii and the "backup" DBZ you're running is NTSC.
It doens't seem likely that's the reason though, because it wouldn't let me copy the actual save file over from the SD card to the Wii. If it was a case of region compability, I'm sure it'd let me copy it over but just not detect it when I play. Even if my version of DBZ was NTSC, which I'm not entirely sure about since I got it from a friend, I don't think the Wii would know if I had tried to copy the save prior to playing the game, so it wouldn't stop me from just copying it over.
Hope that made some sense.
Here's how I understand it and I'm nearly positive this is how it works...
Your Wii will not let you copy the save over if it has never seen the game played before. If you've played the "RDBE" version of DBZ and not the "RDBJ" version of DBZ, it wont let you copy the "RDBJ" version of the save over because the Wii sees different regions as different games.
Try downloading a random save from a game you've never played on your Wii regardless of the region and you'll find that it'll tell you to play the game first before allowing you to copy it over.
Only when your Wii has seen a game "played" is when you can copy a save from that game over to your Wii. I'm not sure if you need to create your own save file first, though, because that's usually a given.
