Dunno if this thread should be going in the VB cathegory or not... move at will :)

So Why is this place have (needs?) SOOOO many saved games of the same games?

I mean... do we REALLY need 144 different saved files for Zelda? I mean REALLY? Dont we need only a "100% complete everything unlocked" save and perhaps a "fully equiped and am right before the last boss" save file?

I dont understand the point of having a save file at every possible save point of a game with every options differently when other games have been requested a couple of times and that there's still no save files for them :(

I can understand that at one point someone screwed up his save file and can request a save file at stage #4 with X & X equipment... but shouldnt their be priorities to the games that has nothing?

You lost your saved game for some reason? Well that sucks for you... but why would anyone else Have to re-do the game For you? And then give you their fruit of their labor using Your name for the saved files and equipment you were using? Personnally, I think that sucks because the one that re-do the game for the fella that lost his save game could be instead playing the latest new game and share his progress here with his saved game.

    Maybe there should be a clean up in the data base of saved files... I mean;

-DBZ: 13 saved files... it's a fighter... dont we only need a "all characters unlocked + all upgrades"?
-Excite Truck: 12 saved files... it's a racing game... Having "All tracks + trucks & colors" should be fine... nothing more
-Zelda: 144 saved games??? Come On! :-/ Is there other games beside Zelda that people plays here?
-Mortal Kombat Armageddon: 1 saved file... All characters + lotsa money... do we need anything else?? No, It's perfectly fine like this! Kudos to the one that uploaded that.

I'm not pissed-off or anything even if I sound P-O... I just think that there's alot of useless junk beign uploaded and I think it's bad for the site... I apreciate the good saved files, but I think it sucks that some games gets Soooooo much attention while others dont have anything... People shouldnt bother uploading their saved files if there's already a better one uploaded. Things like "oh I just started the game, am at 15% throught it... here's my save game" shouldnt be here on the site.

Anyway... it's my two cents on the matter... I really do love this place, hope it stays up for as along as the Nintendo Wii life span :)

Eh, I think I'll let this one float around in the main forum for a bit before I move it to the Virtual Boy dump...

There's actually some thought provoking stuff here.

We allow any save as long as it has a real description. We have a feature called 'Sponsoring' that allows us to bump up the important saves to the top when we see that it just can't get any better or it's very useful compared to the others, but we normally only do this when we feel it's needed (such as in the case of the Zelda saves). I actually recently went through the Zelda: TP saves and cleared any non-descriptive saves out of there at least.

You never know, maybe someone can't get past a part and just wants to be slightly further so he can beat the game himself. There's a lot of different possibilities of why someone would want an incomplete save instead of the best save.

  1.

Alot of the zelda saves are those fun glitch saves.

I don't think we should discourage people from uploading saves just because there are already 1000000 saves for that game already up here.

Contributing helps out, even if its a little bit.

I personally upload 100% complete saves for games, but from time to time I do upload incremental saves, which I (sometimes) delete once I get that perfect game save for a game I'm working on.

  2.

Actually The MK Armageddon one isnt the best possible Save. I am working on getting it to 100% It doesnt have all the create a fighter options unlocked. I am working on it though.

i personally like the different saves, some games can do without the many saves, however, people want to complete certain objective in a game, and if the game is completed to 100%, then certain objective cant be accessed, because the games doesn't allow you to do so. for example, i uploaded my need for speed pro street save onto the site, the save is basically almost 100% completed, however you aren't allowed to challenge the 5 main racing kings, i wish i knew this, so i would have just gotten far as the speed kings and then stop there, so the people who wants to race against them may do so
