Is it possible to convert saves from one region to another?

    Impossible at the moment.

I gave this a shot with the help of some other random internet nerds a while back - the problem is that each save is encrypted, possibly with a key that exists either on nintendo's servers or inside each individual Wii, so without that it's hard to crack. What makes it impossible is that the style of encryption may differ between regions, so even if you have the first key you can't just magically change RZDP to RZDJ and Viola! it works... (aka it doesn't work) sad, isn't it?

what if I have the Amercan version of RE4 but patched it to PAL. Does the US save work on my PAL game on a PAL console?

I'm not sure what you mean by patching it to PAL. Is this a modded Wii thing?

yeah it is. I bought the US version of the game and took a backup from it, cause when doing so it's possible to region patch it, so I can play it on my PAL wii

Yeah? A link to some info or a step by step description of the process would be really helpful regarding what you're talking about, felixen

Well I don't have one, otherwise I wouldn't be asking in here :)

Or do you mean a link to the region patching?

This should be useful: http://wiki.gbatemp.net/index.php/RegionFrii - They also have a list on that site of all the compatible games of each region. If you consider this region patching thing, you must know that some games have updates included in them. This can brick your Wii if the update isn't the same region as your wii. A good example of this is when paper mario launched in the US. A lot of european gamers patched the game so it could play on their wii, but because the update on the game was newer than the one they had on their wii, the new NTSC update got installed on the PAL wii which resulted in a completely bricked wii.

Now this is no big thread if you're Wii is online, because it'll then receive the newest updates available. If the update on your wii is the same or newer than the update on the game, the update on the game will not be installed.

Also, you can search for a program called "brickblocker" or something like that. It removes updates from any game out now, but I don't know if it'll work with future releases as well (if it does there is no problem at all).

I have a wiikey. I think I paid around 60 dollars for it, but I bought it in Denmark so I dunno if the price is different in your country. It works great, but the developers are pretty damn lazy. There is no update out for the chip yet, and it was supposed to come on the 15th of May.. Some people start to believe the developers have just given up, but I dunno..

To answer this question to the best of my ability.. I don't believe the US save would work on your PAL game. The save always has to match the game specifically and if your Wii is reading Resident Evil 4 as RB4P, it'll be looking for an RB4P save as well.

If you ever try this out and come to any conclusions, I'd love to hear about it.

I actually tried it, and it worked perfectly. I dunno how since the game is in PAL now, but it works just fine

So you're saying you successfully used a US save on a PAL game that was converted from NTSC(E) to PAL(P)?

With most mod chips out there you do not have to patch them , they auto patch the region themselves. I was playing the japanese version of RE4 on my wii before it was release to the us. You do no have to be playing a back up either, it can be a retail disc from a different region. The saves have to match the game region but the console region apparently has no effect. I have used the RE4 japan saves from this site no problem.
