well i've read all these threads, and my situation is a little different.
1. I took my blank SD card and put it in my Wii.
2. Copied my RE4 save to my SD card.
3. Then deleted the RE4 save off the Wii.
4. Next I plugged my SD card into my PC.
5. The folder opens, I can already see the "private" folder has been created by the Wii. I navigate to the RB4E folder and replace the data.bin file with my newly downloaded data.bin file.
6. Remove the SD card from the PC, put it back in my Wii.
Now when I click the SD tab on the Wii, it says it can't recognize the SD card !!
Things I tried:
1. Formatting the SD card to completely remove any data
2. Tested the SD card with other files (i.e., pics) in the Wii, works fine
3. Downloaded two diff files from Wiisave, just to make sure it wasn't a bad download
4. Created my own folders on the SD card and copied the new data.bin file to its destination.
5. I've had the firmware upgrade.
Let me reiterate....when I put the SD card in the Wii while its clean, it works fine, I can move back and forth between the saves on the Wii, and where the saves would be on the SD card, SD tab (all the blocks are blank at this point). I can copy the game save from the Wii memory to the SD card successfully. My PC opens and reads the saved Wii file successfully. Once I move a file from my PC to SD card, then put the SD card back the Wii, the Wii doesn't recognize the SD card.
Possible issues
1. My Wii is modded (I guess this is an issue?)
2. I use a generic SD reader on my PC (its actually a laptop mouse with a built in SD reader). For the record though, this reader is able to transfer music, pics, and all other files successfully.
3. I missed something
Any other suggestions? Thanks.
RM
One thing is sure the modded wii has nothing to do with it. I think it's the sd card that isn't comatible :D
There are different kinds of mods. What kind of mod do you have for your wii. If it is wiikey that isn't the problem.
i use wii key as well.
i'll try and get hold of a good sd reader tonight, and try to eliminate that question as well.
thanks guys for your replies, any others?
The problem doesnt seem to be the reader.
Are you sure your save is from the right region? Have you altered the save in any way?
They key to debugging this kind of stuff is to eliminate variables - try a different wii, try a different SD reader, try a different SD card with everything else constant. It's like if you have a TV / DVD player with static in the signal. If you swap out the DVD player and you still get static, you know it's the TV!
Yeah, if you have a friend that has an SD card that you can borrow or an SD reader or a completely different computer to try it on, give it all a shot if you have access to them.
This is a very odd problem and I've never heard of anyone having this problem before. Please keep this thread updated on any of your progress.
Sure will. This weekend most likey. Unfortunately though, I only have access to another Wii thats also using wii key. But, according to comments above, thats not an issue. I still think its my cheapo reader - but I'll let you guys know for sure next week.
peace & thanks
