Hey! I'm a newcomer here, but I've already checked the IDs and learned the rules.
(Like the R - Wii - stuff, P for Pal Region etc...)
But I didn't get the second and the third letters. Let's use the example "Zelda: Twilight Princess"
The given ID is RZDE. Right: R is for Wii, E is for English (American version)... And Z and D are present in the name (Zelda). Some names, which have only one important/main word, have the second ID character as its first, while the third ID letter is the main name's second syllable first letter. But this is not for all of them; I believe it's not even the rule for most of the games listed.
So, I would like to learn the way to "guess" these letters. If I download a Nintendo 64 game in my American Wii console, I know the first letter should be N and the fourth, E. But the Ocarina of Time code is NACE. AC? Ocarina of Time, possibly.
But if it's any other, is there the perfect way I am asking? I just can't figure out the standard.
I thank everyone here for the possibility given to so many people through this forum, and the whole site. Ad, of course, the people who took time to read my question.
Hey, we do what we can. We provide a pretty thorough list on our game code page. I think a lot of them are semi-arbitrary, but at the very least you can take a look through and see if you can see a pattern...
As the guy who wrote the description on the game code page, manages the game code list and has put every game code in there, I would say that there is no pattern. I've tried looking for one, myself, because that would make everything a bit easier, but it seems that the game code is chosen by either the developers or Nintendo themselves by choosing 2 somewhat random letters or numbers.
Oh... I see.
Thanks for the help. That was exactly what I thought it would be. I still think it would be a lot easier, as you said, if they put a pattern, like OT or OC for Ocarina of Time, and LP or LK for A Link to the Past etc. As there are some codes with numbers, something like M6 for Super Mario 64 would be no problem.
I appreciate your comments. ^^
Hey...
I was looking up some game IDs so that I could create a backup folder before downloading those 100%-like files... And I found out that Zelda II - Adventure of Link - doesn't have its code listed. Only F, which means it belongs to NES. I am sure we all know it. =P
I have downloaded two NES games so far. One of them, the first Zelda ever made, has the code "AK" (as listed). The other one, exactly Adventure of Link, is named "A9". And that's why I'm sure this code must belong to Zelda II - AoL.
(If anyone wants to check it, just download NES Zelda II - AoL - and see; the folder name is "FA9E".)
I'm just saying it so that (some of) you guys can update the list. ^^
I've been looking around for that code. Thanks!
Hey, i keep follwing the game code link but it keeps giving me this weird error message, what is wrong?
